Initiations & Transmissions: Hatun Karpi; Munay Ki; Paqo Initiations from Q'eros

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

I offer these as a part of Shamanic Practitioner Training as well as stand-alone transmissions

Transmissions or Karpays or Initiations are energetic downloads which give you a jump-start in your practise whether it is new to you or ongoing. The transmissions which I have the great honour and privilege of being able to transmit are from an unbroken lineage and they have the capacity to connect you with the life-force and nature beings in such a way that you can call upon them in your life to bring about healing and harmony. It is a very profound transmission of nature wisdom and connection to our greatest teacher - mother nature - with the grace and permission of our Q'ero Paqo teachers. These initiations are precisely that: an energetic download which can propel your spiritual and personal growth. I transmit them with all sorts of tools, shadow work and context to help you to assimilate their wisdom and apply it in your life and work in practical ways.

PAQO INITIATIONS FROM Q'ERO MASTERS

I recently received these transmissions directly from the Q'ero Paqos with Elizabeth Jenkins. These rites were a part of learning how to create a medicine bundle in the traditional way; learning how to make Haywariquy (despacho) in the traditional way ; as well as how to do Animo Wahay (a distinct and potent form of soul retrieval) amongst many other beautiful tools for healing. These teachings have deepened my path, my relationship with the nature beings, and with my home lands.

HATUN KARPI - with Juan & Ivan Nunez del Prado.

A profound initiation into Andean Cosmovision learning the deep energetic pathways of personal power and how we negotiate this with ourselves, our loved ones, our communities, as well as those who challenge us. A deep understanding about how to connect with the energies of nature, nature spirits, the elements, how to clean our own energy fields and clear heaviness with others. A realistic appraisal of personal power and how to grow it. Skills for balancing feminine and masculine energies.

MUNAY KI

"I found the Munay Ki to be a very transformational process. With the transmission of each Rite I felt that I got to explore another aspect of myself and my connection with the wider world around me. It added a real depth, grounding and deeper understanding to my life. I continue to grow the Rites. Kate was extremely knowledgeable and supportive and held the space beautifully." C. H.

HATUN KARPI - MUNAY KI : WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? Hatun Karpi as transmitted to me by Juan Nunez Del Prado is a fully integrated profound energetic initiation which opens up pathways of connection to internal processes, external relationships and cosmic inspiration. The exercises and initiations all come from centuries old unbroken lineages of the Qero and Wacho (mountain) traditions of Peru. This is a profoundly mystical and yet everyday practical initiation which deepens your understanding of your personal power; enables a realistic appraisal of your relationships with other people; helps you to find energetic pathways to communicate with nature; there is a clean precision to this path to healing of self and others, in many ways it is the Path of the Mystic. This is fourth level work. In my experience it made sense of, deepened and added a strong back-bone as well as layers of understanding to my journey thus far.

Munay Ki, on the other hand, is drawn from a wider circle of traditions in Peru - lowlands as well as mountains and Amazon. Unlike other teachers I bring carefully crafted exercises to bring context to this journey . It is more of a Shamanic path - a deep dive into psycho-spiritual dismemberment with initiations to energise and reinform your experience of earth, humanity and cosmos. It is like a preparation for Hatun Karpi if you have never done any Shamanic work before and even if you do Munay Ki alone and step in with all your heart it will transform your life. The late Polly Higgins did this series with me over three years and found it very beneficial, it was a real honour to work with her, we taught each other a lot.

Munay Ki is the transmission of energetic initiations from Peruvian indigenous wisdom keepers as collated by Alberto Villoldo. In MY expression of this it is underpinned by the cosmology of the Q'ero whose wisdom and connection to natural spirituality is unbroken

The Q'ero elders say that the new Paqos (Shamans) will arise in the West and that now is the time to share their wisdom. The depth and breadth of their cosmology embraces and harmonises with all forms of spiritual integrity, hence their recognition of Jesus as a spiritual master despite their treatment by the Spanish. Indeed the Inka (of whom the Q'ero are descendants) had an enormously successful strategy for building their Empire which meant that they included rather than repudiated the spiritual wealth of the peoples they incorporated.

We are enormously privileged, not to say indebted, to receive their wisdom teachings and they encourage us to transcribe them to our own land and remember our own indigenous natures. These Initiations are underpinned by an unbroken natural spiritual tradition and as such can give you a sense of grounding, continuity and security. They offer us a clear blueprint which we can connect to our land, our sacred sites, our local nature spirits, our ancestors and our own indigenous teacher plants. One of my teachers Dona Maria, an Alto Mesayok, encourages us to make sense of Andean Cosmovision in our own lands and this is what I teach.

Provenance of the Munay Ki: the Munay Ki as a 'package' of Rites was put together by Alberto Villoldo and I received all of these during my 3 year training with the Four Winds.

Healer's Rite - Hampe blessing - I received this from Alberto. Also more recently directly from the highland Q'ero Pampamesayoks

Bands of Power - More accurately known as the Chumpi Belts which I offer as received from Juan Nunez del Prado who received it from Don Andres Espinosa

Seer's Rite - from the practices of the North Coast peoples of Peru (Chimu and Moche descendants) and the seers and trackers of the Amazon

Harmony Rite - from the lowland Q'ero - the Huachipayre people from the edge of the Amazon. Villoldo learned this from Alejandro Cahaunchi. I have also learned this from Juan Nunez del Prado and I adapt it to suit the lands of the people I work with.

The Daykeeper's Rite - also known as the Pampamesayok - the Pampamesayoks of Q'eros are highly trained Paqos. This Rite alone does not give you the training to be able to call yourself a Pampamesayok, however it gives you greater insight into daily ritual, altar-keeping, connecting to your local sacred sites.

The Wisdomkeeper's Rite - also known as Altomesayok - Dona Maria with whom I have worked is an Altomesayok and she is even more highly trained than the Pampamesayoks. Only one or two of these in each generation in Q'eros, the Altomesayok can speak directly with nature. This Rite alone will not give you the training to be able to call yourself an Altomesayok however it gives you a taste of connecting directly with the mountain wisdom-keepers.

The Earth-keeper's Rite - is known among the Andean Paqos as the Kurak Akuyek and refers to the elder who masticates the wisdom - there is currently no recognised Kurak Akuyek in Q'eros. In good faith I transmit this Rite as I have received it and I offer it in the context of re-invoking our local connection to our ancestors and cleaning that connection by releasing hucha (heavy energy).

The Star-keeper's Rite - better known amongst the Q'ero as the Mosoq Karpay. I have received this Rite directly from the Q'ero and I transmit it with enormous gratitude to them. The Mosoq Karpay is the act of renewal of promises of service and stepping into right relationship with Mother Earth. The Paqos of Peru renew their promises with offerings on Pachamama Day, 1st August, and they receive the Mosoq Karpay. It is in this way that I received the Mosoq Karpay from them. According to Villoldo this Rite 'announces and prepares us for the time to come' - the way I interpret this statement, especially in relation to the Q'ero tradition, is that when we renew our promises to Mother Earth we connect even more deeply with her and Pachamama as cosmic mother and in this way align ourselves with the great unfolding.

The Creator's Rite - also known as the Taitanchis rite. I was in Utah in 2006 when Alberto came back from a pilgrimage to Q'olloriti and received and then transmitted this rite. Taitanchi is the q'echuan word for God and it is the first time that it is possible to transmit this 'creator' energy human to human. In my experience it is a very high energy rite which streams from the source of creation.

PAQO INITIATIONS FROM Q'ERO MASTERS I recently received these transmissions directly from the Q'ero Paqos with Elizabeth Jenkins.

What do I bring as a teacher? I am deeply grateful to all my teachers and my unique addition to the wonders of their transmissions is my relationship with the land where I live; with the nature spirits; my research into our deep history and local mother goddess. I offer these experiences as portals for you to develop your own relationship with the spirits of place where you live as well as deepening your soul's path to healing self and others.

Hatun Karpi, Paqo Initiations from Q'ero Masters, and Munay Ki are complementary and none are for the feint-hearted, this is not spiritual tourism. On this journey there is the invitation to unlock your unique potential and deepen your relationship with your environment. I am indebted to all my teachers - human and non-human - and I offer these initiations with the grounding of my many years experience as healing practitioner and guide.
